Job hunting? Don’t expect to find something great next month. A Society of Human Resource Management report indicates this could be the worst August for hiring in four years. Human resource professionals surveyed said they expected to bring on dramatically fewer new employees in August 2008 compared with August 2007.
No surprise, compensation grew more slowly and recruiting was easier than this time last year. "Employment expectations for both manufacturing and service-sector hiring are at the lowest August levels in four years, " said Jennifer Schramm, SHRM manager of workplace trends and forecasting.
