Burned Out Working Moms, You’re Not Alone

Thursday August 7, 2008

After a long week at the office, I can barely see straight. It takes a good night’s sleep and relaxed, unstructured time with my family to begin to unwind. By Monday I’m usually clear-eyed and ready to jump back into work.

According to a CareerBuilder.com survey, I should count myself lucky. 78% of workers report being burned out and 45% have a heavy workload. 46% of survey respondents said their workload has climbed in the last 6 months, and 23% aren’t happy with their work-life balance.

Fortunately, 54% of workers said their companies help them manage stress through flexible work arrangements, and two-thirds participate. These programs include alternative schedules (72%), compressed work weeks (24%), telecommuting (15%), summer hours (14%), and job sharing (6%).

Are you burned out? Please share.
