Moms who want a flexible work arrangement should check out Workplace Flexibility 2010 for case studies and research on what works in corporate America. The project, an initiative of the Georgetown University Law Center, advocates for family friendly work policies and legislation.

Whether you’re a working mom looking for statistics for negotiating flexible hours in your own job, or an employer trying to make your workplace more humane, Workplace Flexibility 2010 is a great place to start.

Are there any moms out there who have a flexible work situation? I’d love to hear about your experiences.

I love that you’re providing information to moms who want to work differently and find more flexibility to manage their career and life. There’s a lot of confusion about what flex really is and how to get it. Having good information and resources to help you work through a process to decide what you need and then having the ability to connect with employers looking for this talent is a big step in the right direction. And, lots of companies are really interested in finding talented women and are open to exploring flexible work options. My company offers a free site to individuals(www.flexpaths.com) that helps them understand and use the full power of flex to connect with employers.

Thanks for posting this site.

It seems that there is a lot of talk about flexible work arrangements, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I actually work for the labor department and flexible work arrangements are not allowed. My spouse is also a government employee without this benefit. We pay for after school care for our young children because we both work too far from our house to pick them up after school. Both of us have jobs where a flexible arrangement is possible, but the “old school” thinking is rampant. The government can talk the talk about flexible arrangments, stating often how the private sector should allow it, conducting study after study, but it fails miserably to walk the walk and allow it for its own employees. Someone needs to actually implement something for today’s working families.
