How Do Working Moms Save Money?

Monday September 22, 2008

Watching the recent turbulence in the financial markets, I suddenly got serious about sticking to the budget my husband and I agreed upon months ago. But it's not easy to forgo the little indulgences or to keep the grocery and gas bills on track. For the first time in my life, I'm actually clipping coupons and even remembering to bring them to the store with me. (Most of the time.)

An Internet survey by the Coupon Council found that I'm not alone - 89% of people have clipped coupons. Even people who spend 10 minutes or less clipping and organizing save an average of $7 on their grocery bill each week. Those who take 20 minutes can save up to $1,000 a year, according to the council.

Readers, how have you been affected by the economy? Do you clip coupons or skip Starbucks or find other ways to save money? I’m always looking for new ideas.
