Sarah Palin, Please Write Quickly

Tuesday May 26, 2009

Anyone else having trouble waiting a year for Sarah Palin's new book? Word is that the deal with HarperCollins calls for a memoir to be released in spring 2010.

"Being a voracious reader, I read a lot today and have read a lot growing up," Palin told the Associated Press, which reported that she holds a journalism degree from the University of Idaho. The book will address "the challenges and the joys, balancing the work and parenting, and, in my case, work means running the state," Palin said.

She plans to write about her childhood, running for vice president and her family life, including teen daughter Bristol Palin's pregnancy. Personally, I'd like to see if she addresses the very different public reaction to her candidacy and Hillary Clinton's.

Whether you admire or despise Sarah Palin (or feel conflicted), I'm guessing you're as curious as I am to read this book by one of the most controversial working moms out there. I'd also like to note that the brilliant readers of this blog predicted Sarah Palin would write a memoir back in November.

Note to HarperCollins publicist: sign me up for an advance review copy!

I can’t wait. I prefer to hear stories from the person versus through the media’s voice.

I’d love to read it if I thought for a minute that the book would be a genuine reflection of her struggles as a working mom who has reached amazing heights (whether you like her politics or not). My fear is that it will be more of a product to use to see if there’s support for her to run as President in 2012 — which would also explain having it come out in the spring of 2010, when the GOP will be looking for its new standard-bearer.

Palin is the most repulsive and grotesque reactionary to seek high office since Spiro Agnew. Although millions of Americans wish she would just go away, she is obviously running for president as we speak, so she’ll always find a forum to disgust us going forward. I won’t read a word of it.

My prediction is that her book will be a runaway best seller based on pre-release sales alone, and will remain on the best seller list for months. You can bet that one of the first people to read the book will be 0bama, and his advisers. Every one of her enemies, both left and right, will read it, looking for something in there to reinforce their hatred, every one of her supporters will read it looking for something to reinforce their support, and all those who really live her already will buy multiple copies to give as gifts. Gov. Palin knows that her book will be one of the most closely scrutinized books of the modern era. For that reason, I suspect that it will be one of the most carefully crafted books written in modern times.

I will be one of the people ordering multiple copies.

Sarah Palin is one of the most exciting political figures in modern America. Before she is through, I believe she will eclipse Ronald Reagan’s popularity with the American people. She is smart, tough, real. She is the most fiscally responsible leader in America. Yes she polarizes; the Socialists despise her because she is not a member of the cult. She beieves in moral values, self-sufficiency, and the culture of life, all qualities that are anathema to those who value weakness, welfare, and big govt.

Her book is gonna break the record for sales.

Finally, we get her story without the MSM viciousness and spin.

About time!

I’ll take 5 copies.
