5-Minute Bonding With Your Kids

Monday June 22, 2009

This Father's Day was a wonderful opportunity to relax and just enjoy the family. We spent all Saturday morning at the swimming pool and had the extended family over on Sunday. But all weekends aren't so leisurely.

In fact, there are some days that we're lucky to sit down to breathe in between the rush to get to school, work, activities, dinner, bath and bed. Fortunately, I'm a big believer in quality time. When I'm with my family, I try my best to be 100 percent focused on the kids and my husband.

If I see one of my children struggling -- with a transition, emotional issue or being under the weather -- I slow down the pace of my day and take the time to help them out. Surprisingly, a few extra minutes go a long way.

How do you find the time to have fun with your kids during a busy week? Please share! And check out the other suggestions for mid-summer fun with children in the All About Parenting Blog Carnival.

If you're a blogger, please feel free to enter the blog carnival by sending the url for your post about mid-summer madness to Jennifer O'Donnell, the About.com Guide to Tween Parenting.
