I don't know about you, but in my community the PTA is a force with which to be reckoned. Not only do they organize we parents to advocate for our school facilities and resources, but they put together most of the fun activities in the school for kids and families. Since I can't exactly link to each reader's Parent Teacher Association, I'm making the national PTA the About Working Moms Site of the Week.

On the PTA Web site, you can search for your local organization. You can also find resources for issues your child may be facing, such as bullying; fundraising advice; and information about health and wellness.

Working moms can sometimes feel shy of the PTA because we can't always make weekday meetings or volunteer opportunities. But I have found that PTA leaders are happy with any contribution you're able to make towards their efforts, whether it's stuffing envelopes at home at night, writing a check or picking up a store-bought tray of cupcakes for the bake sale.

Dive right in without apology or guilt - I think you'll find you'll be met with the same positive attitude you bring to the table.
