Whenever we have a long family road trip, I have no qualms about breaking out the DVD player to occupy the kids. But eventually, animated characters wear thin and the girls start looking around and stretching. That's when I know it's time to play some fun car games for kids.
I still love the classic car games from my own childhood family vacations: spotting one item for each letter of the alphabet, 20 questions and taking turns doubling a number to see who got confused first. (My dad thought up that one as a trick to help us learn math; we never caught on that it was educational. Maybe reasoning skills would've been in order.)
