Learn How to Go Back to Work

If you made a clean break with your employer after you had a baby, your maternity leave could easily transition into a new role as a stay-at-home mom. Eventually, you may decide to go back to work. Easier said than done, right?

Not necessarily. The common thread in failed job hunts is people who give up, I learned when I interviewed Richard Bolles, author of What Color Is Your Parachute? The most important ingredients are steady steps, one after the other, and the determination to go back to work.

Moreover, there are plenty of resources for helping you on the back to work journey. For instance, iRelaunch.com provides community, employer connections and support to stay-at-home moms looking to go back to work. (Or anyone seeking employment after a career break.) I first wrote about their programs three years ago, and am looking forward to next week's career reentry workshop in Washington D.C. to see how their curriculum has matured.

Are you a stay-at-home mom thinking about going back to work? Or a working mom wondering what the path back would be like if you quit? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
