Halloween is next week, and every working mom knows what that means: the official start to the hectic holiday season that stretches from Oct. 31 through Jan. 1. The only way to survive this marathon of interrupted workdays and additional obligations is to pace yourself.

For instance, now would be a good time to start planning what gifts (if any) you'll purchase for colleagues or your boss. If your employer prohibits gifting at the office, you've got a free pass. If not, one place to start is this article on coworker gifts by guest author Tracey Porpora.

What are your secrets for managing the busy fall and winter holiday season? Please share in the comments.
