Is a Career Coach Right for You?

I recently wrote a story for Fortune about career coaching and, as often happens, came away from my reporting wanting a career coach myself. There's something so appealing about someone in your corner, rooting for you and helping you achieve the goals you set.

Of course, as with any field that has grown as dramatically as coaching has in recent years, you have to be aware of the potential red flags around coaching to make sure you don't waste your time or money. But as skeptical as I usually am about trendy professional services, I quickly saw the value career coaches can provide. Now, let's see if I can justify spending the money myself on a writing coach.

Have you ever considered finding a career coach? If you have, please share your experiences in the comment section.

I enjoyed reading your article in Fortune and was thankful you took the time to educate the public about the differences between a certified and trained coach and what to look for. I am also a big advocate of coaching and have hired a writing coach and it was worth the investment. I am currently working with a business coach and have hired several coaches over the last 15 years and I am a Coach. I don’t feel I would be where I am today without my coaches and coaching friends and associates. The investment for me has been extremely valuable and worth every penny and yes the right fit is very important.
