Conquer the Dreaded Snow Day

By December 26, 2012

Follow me on:

They're predicting snow in our area this week, but for once, I'm not scrambling for backup child care plans. That's because a snow day will only come when school is already cancelled for winter break. I welcome the snow!

In fact, I hope that all the snow that falls this winter comes this week, and then we can have several months of dry weather. It's not that I begrudge my children the fun of playing in the snow, but every snow day throws us into a tizzy of triaging workloads and arranging playdates within walking distance.

What is your approach to snow days? Do you have a deal with your spouse or neighborhood parents so that you all can get something accomplished when the weather is rotten? Or do you simply surrender to the snow day and take a moment to connect with the kids?
